๐Halifax council has approved nine new parks for designated homeless encampments to alleviate overcrowding at current sites. As of June 25, the city's four sanctioned sites, designed for 30 people, were sheltering 88 tents or structures. Additional tents were found at Northbrook Park in Dartmouth, the old Halifax Memorial Library, and various urban and rural locations. The council's decision aims to accommodate the growing number of homeless individuals, which now totals 1,316. Staff selected parks that aren't near schools or culturally sensitive areas but are close to transit and services. ๐๐จ๐ฆ @jom_mattam . . #Halifax #Homelessness #CityCouncil #CommunitySupport #PublicParks #UrbanPlanning #HomelessEncampments #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
