👉Nurses in the majority of Ontario's long-term care (LTC) homes are in for the most substantial wage increase in over three decades, according to their union. An arbitration decision released recently promises Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) members an 11.5% pay raise over two years. The decision entails three-percent increases annually, with the salary grid rising about 5.5%. Effective from July 1, this adjustment sees starting wages for registered nurses climb from $32.22 to $33.99 per hour, while the top rate jumps from $48.78 to $51.46. ONA represents various healthcare professionals in these homes. ONA President Erin Ariss lauds the decision as a step towards acknowledging the skilled work done by nurses and health professionals in the sector.
