👉OC Transpo fare inspectors issued 287 tickets, totaling nearly $75,000 in fines over 39 days last autumn, according to a report to Ottawa's transit commission. The fines, averaging about seven tickets or $1,910 per day, aim to bridge revenue shortfalls caused by lower ridership. A new fare compliance initiative, launched in January, employs two enforcement officers and two special constables to address fare evasion and other offenses. A pilot in December resulted in multiple tickets and arrests. The initiative will run until April 2024, with its effectiveness under review.✅ .
