👉While Canadian Blood Services reports success in luring new donors, a shortage of blood has resulted from a number of missed or canceled appointments over the past several months. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 31,000 fewer donors were available than before. This puts an increased burden on a smaller pool of willing participants. The agency manages the stockpile from which transfusions of blood and blood products are routinely sent across the country to suit the demands of hospitals and individual patients.
