๐Waterloo-based tech firm Sandvine has been blacklisted by the U.S. Department of Commerce over allegations of providing technology used for surveillance and censorship. Although previously owned by Francisco Partners, Sandvine is now under scrutiny for enabling autocratic governments, including Egypt, to inject spyware and manipulate web traffic. Their deep packet inspection (DPI) technology, typically used to block harmful content, has reportedly been misused for malicious purposes, according to a report from The Citizen Lab. Sandvineโs equipment was implicated in injecting spyware into an Egyptian politician's phone, leading to tighter controls on its operations. ๐๐จ๐ฆ @manojkaratha_realtor . . #TechSurveillance #SpywareScandal #Cybersecurity #DeepPacketInspection #SandvineControversy #DigitalCensorship #USBlacklist #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
