๐Canada observes its fourth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, honoring Indigenous children who died in residential schools, as well as survivors, their families, and communities. Also known as Orange Shirt Day, this federal holiday reflects on the over 150,000 First Nations, Mรฉtis, and Inuit children forced into residential schools from the 1870s to 1997. The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation reports more than 4,100 children died while attending these schools. Events nationwide mark the day, including a 90-minute ceremony in Ottawa, with the Peace Tower and Senate building lit in orange. ๐๐จ๐ฆ @jom_mattam . . #TruthAndReconciliation #OrangeShirtDay #IndigenousRights #NeverForget #CanadaIndigenous #ResidentialSchoolSurvivors #IndigenousHistory #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
