๐Since late 2022, Ontario has moved 424 patients into nursing homes they did not choose, out of 20,261 long-term care placements. This increase is attributed to a law aimed at freeing up hospital space by relocating alternate level of care patients to available nursing homes, sometimes up to 150 kilometers away. In February and March alone, one-third of these moves occurred. Critics argue the $400 daily penalty for refusing transfer pressures patients into compliance. One family faces a $26,000 bill due to the law. Introduced after Doug Ford's re-election, the bill bypassed extensive review, sparking opposition and controversy. . #OntarioHealthcare #NursingHomes #Bill7 #HospitalDischarges #LongTermCare #HealthcareCrisis #PatientRights #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
