๐Rainfall overnight has stalled the advance of a large wildfire near Fort McMurray, a key Canadian oil sands city, keeping it about 5.5 km from the city's landfill. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo anticipates subdued fire behavior due to more rain in the forecast through Monday. Another smaller wildfire to the north of the city is also contained. In 2016, a massive wildfire in the region caused significant evacuations and damage. Currently, around 6,600 residents from nearby suburbs have been evacuated, with returns not expected before May 21. However, thunderstorms and lightning pose ongoing risks for new fires. . #FortMcMurray #WildfireUpdate #RainRelief #CanadianOilSands #WoodBuffalo #FireSafety #EvacuationAlert #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
