633 Indian Students Die Abroad in Five Years; Most Fatalities in Canada and US
โ Over the past five years, 633 Indian students have died abroad due to various causes, including accidents and violent attacks, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Canada reported the highest number of fatalities at 172, followed by the US with 108. These deaths occurred across 41 countries, with Canada also leading in attack-related deaths. The MEA emphasizes its commitment to student safety and encourages students to register with Indian missions abroad for assistance. Additionally, 48 Indian students were deported from the US in the last three years for reasons such as unauthorized employment and visa issues. .
