IRCC Proposes New Rules for International Students Changing Schools in Canada
โ The IRCC has proposed changes requiring international students in Canada to apply for a new study permit if they switch Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs). This policy aims to enhance compliance and reduce fraud, as DLIs are currently under provincial jurisdiction. While students can attend the new DLI while their application is processed, the change introduces a $150 fee and added administrative burdens, estimated to cost $55.5 million over ten years. DLIs will face compliance costs of $4.8 million. The proposed changes are under consultation until July 29, 2024. .
