IRCC Stops Using Inactive Officer IDs for Immigration Applications After Review
โ Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has ceased its practice of assigning immigration applications to inactive officer IDs after a review revealed the use of placeholders and former employees' IDs in its Global Case Management System (GCMS). The investigation, sparked by a CBC report in December 2022, found over 59,000 pending applications linked to 779 inactive codes, some from officers who hadnโt logged in for over a decade. IRCC has since reformed its system to ensure that no applications are overlooked or forgotten, preventing files from being lost in the process. .
