Toronto police have advised that a community emergency siren test will take place around 5 p.m. in the city's east end, near the West Hill neighborhood. A two-minute "whoop, whoop" sound will be heard by residents. After this, there will be five minutes of silence. After that, for about a minute, there will be a monotone "all clear" signal. When the sirens sound, residents are being asked to stay put and shelter. According to officials, the sirens are made to be loud enough to be heard within one kilometer of the signal locations Dow and Lanxess.
