✅IImmigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has revealed important updates to the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) for 2023. The program will now accept up to 15,000 complete applications for sponsorship this year.
Starting on October 10, IRCC will initiate the process by sending invitations to apply to 24,200 potential sponsors who have expressed their interest. The goal is to receive a maximum of 15,000 complete applications.
Notably, rather than opening a new interest-to-sponsor form, IRCC will select potential sponsors randomly from the existing pool of submissions from 2020, streamlining the application process.
If you submitted an interest-to-sponsor form in 2020 but did not receive an invitation to apply in 2021 or 2022, it's advised to check the email account you provided in 2020 for potential updates.
For those invited to apply in the 2023 intake, IRCC will continue to utilize the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal, facilitating the electronic submission of applications. This update aims to make the sponsorship process more efficient and accessible for Canadian citizens and permanent residents seeking to reunite with their parents and grandparents.
