๐Despite promises to end immigration detention agreements, Ontario and Quebec are reconsidering their stance at the request of the federal government. Ontario, which planned to stop incarcerating migrants for the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) on June 15, has extended its agreement for 45 days. Quebec, initially set to end detention on June 30, is in discussions with Ottawa following a $750 million offer to support asylum seeker services. Both provinces are negotiating continued use of provincial jails for migrant detention, with Quebec potentially extending for 18 months. . #Trudeau #Immigration #MigrantDetention #Ontario #Quebec #CBSA #CanadaPolitics #HumanRights #AsylumSeekers #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
