Canada Closes Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, Plans New Programs for Fall
โ Canada has concluded its Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, accepting final applications for permanent residence by August 31. Launched in 2019, this five-year, community-driven program aimed to attract immigrants to smaller, remote communities. Eleven communities participated, each inviting up to 125 candidates annually, for a total of 2,750 invitations. Despite calls to make the pilot permanent, the federal government chose to close it, with plans to introduce new immigration pilots this fall. These upcoming programs, the Rural Community Immigration Pilot and the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot, aim to bolster the economies of rural and francophone minority communities. .
