Protesters Rally Outside Quebec Premier's Office, Urging Faster Family Sponsorship Processing

✅Demonstrators have gathered outside Premier François Legault's office in Montreal, demanding Quebec address its lengthy processing times for family sponsorship applications. Recent data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada reveals significant delays in Quebec compared to the rest of Canada. While spousal sponsorship takes 12 months elsewhere, it extends to approximately 30 months in Quebec. Similarly, sponsoring a parent or grandparent can take up to 51 months in Quebec, compared to 26 months elsewhere. Over 1,800 families, represented by Québec Réunifié, penned an open letter to Quebec Immigration Minister Christine Frechette, denouncing the unacceptable delays and urging expedited processing within 12 months to reunite families and alleviate psychological distress.
