๐The Canadian federal government is exploring the option of purchasing hotels to convert into refugee housing centres, as asylum seekers continue to strain housing and social services. Immigration Minister Marc Miller stated that buying hotels could be a cost-effective solution, providing housing and services to claimants awaiting case processing. Ottawa has already funded approximately 4,000 hotel rooms for 7,300 asylum seekers this year. Between September 2021 and January 2023, nearly $94 million was spent on hotel accommodations. Alternatives include creating reception centres, such as the one in Peel Region, which offers temporary shelter and support services. ๐๐จ๐ฆ @jom_mattam . . #RefugeeCrisis #CanadaImmigration #HousingSolution #AsylumSeekers #GovernmentAction #ImmigrationCanada #SocialServices #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
