IRCC Announces Changes to International Student Program, Reviews Post-Graduation Work Permit after 10 Years

✅On October 27th, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced changes to its International Student Program to safeguard students from fraud and debauchery. Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) will verify each applicant's letter of acceptance in liaison with IRCC. By fall 2024, a "recognized institution" framework will be introduced, benefiting DLIs with priority processing. IRCC will also review the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) criteria for the first time in a decade. The PGWP allows international students to work in Canada after completing eligible programs, helping with immigration pathways. Statistics show a significant increase in PGWP holders in Canada, with many transitioning to permanent residency. . .
