Canada Set to Revamp Post-Study Work Rights for International Students
✅Canada’s Immigration Minister Marc Miller has hinted at upcoming changes to the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program, which has been pivotal in attracting international students for over 15 years. The PGWP, allowing graduates to work in Canada for up to three years, may soon be reformed to better match labor market needs. An IRCC briefing noted a 214% increase in PGWP participation from 2018 to 2023, prompting a re-evaluation. Proposed changes could restrict access for graduates from less relevant programs while favoring those entering in-demand occupations, with potential implementation by January 2025. .
