👉Ontario plans to prohibit unpaid trial shifts for restaurant and hospitality workers, addressing concerns raised by Labour Minister David Piccini. The proposed legislation also strengthens rules against deducting employee wages in cases of customer theft. Piccini emphasizes the need to halt practices like charging workers fees for accessing tips via digital payment apps. Additionally, the bill aims to enhance fairness in hiring by banning the requirement for Canadian work experience in job postings and disclosing the use of artificial intelligence in the hiring process. Other provisions include increased benefits for injured workers and expanded eligibility for international students in immigration programs.✅ . . #UnpaidShiftsBan #LabourRights #RestaurantWorkers #EmploymentJustice #WorkplaceEquality #PayForWork #TorontoLabourLaw #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews

👉Canada's Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently released a comprehensive report shedding light on the persistent issue of racism its employees encounter. The report delves into the views on racism embedded in policies, programs, and practices within the ministry, and outlines potential areas for improvement. Despite some progress, the report reveals a concerning reality: 63% of participants ranked racism as a significant problem at IRCC, giving it a rating of seven or higher on a scale. Notably, incidents of racism were found to be more widespread in IRCC's foreign postings compared to its local offices. Among the unsettling incidents reported by participants, some involved managers mocking the accents of Locally Engaged Staff (LES) working in IRCC's foreign offices. Instances of asking LES to repeat themselves, feigning misunderstanding, and outright ignoring them at work were documented, raising severe concerns about workplace discrimination. The release of this report signifies the ministry's commitment to address and rectify issues related to racism within its ranks and create a more inclusive and equitable work environment.✅ . . #IRCCAntiRacism #InclusionMatters #EquityAtWork #AddressingRacism #DiversityInAction #WorkplaceEquality #RacismAwareness #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
