๐The federal government has approved British Columbiaโs request to recriminalize hard drugs in public spaces, responding to concerns over public drug use. Mental Health and Addictions Minister Yaโara Saks announced the decision on Parliament Hill, stating that it would be effective immediately. B.C. had been running a three-year pilot project to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of certain illicit drugs, but safety concerns led to the request for the project's early termination. Despite this, exemptions in the Criminal Code for personal drug use will still apply in private residences, certain health-care clinics, shelters, and overdose prevention sites, ensuring that those in need can seek help without fear of arrest. ๐๐ @chackolaw.ca . . #DrugPolicy #PublicHealth #BritishColumbia #FederalGovernment #DrugDecriminalization #PublicSafety #MentalHealthAwareness #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
