Manitobaโ€™s PNP Candidates Granted Extended Work Permits by IRCC

โœ…Canada's Immigration Minister Marc Miller has approved Manitoba's request to extend temporary resident status for some Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. This measure will allow 6,700 temporary workers, mainly PGWP holders with expiring permits in 2024, to continue working while their PNP applications are processed. Manitoba expects these workers to become permanent residents within two years. IRCC is open to similar collaborations with other provinces to meet national labor market needs. Manitoba's PNP, the first of its kind in Canada, has successfully transitioned many workers to permanent residents. . Canada Sees Job Growth in April, Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and New Brunswick Lead the Way

โœ…In April, Canada experienced a surge in job growth, particularly in Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and New Brunswick, which collectively added 74,800 new jobs. The increase was largely driven by employment gains among core-aged men and women, as well as male youth. Despite this growth, employment among women aged 55 and older decreased. However, the overall employment rate remained steady at 61.4%. Although employment rose in professional, scientific, and technical services, accommodation and food services, and healthcare and social assistance, unemployment rates among visible minorities increased over the past year. ๐Ÿ‘‰Facing declining voter support or recognizing the need for change, the Liberal government, led by Immigration Minister Marc Miller, is signaling a shift in immigration policy by acknowledging the country's reliance on temporary foreign labor and international students. Miller admitted that Canada has become "addicted to temporary foreign workers," prompting a review of the foreign student visa program and plans to address concerns over wage depression in various industries. Despite reservations from business communities, the government aims to strike a balance between labor demands and protecting the welfare of students and workers.โœ… . ๐œ๐š @chackolaw.ca . . #ImmigrationPolicy #TemporaryForeignWorkers #InternationalStudents #LabourMarket #PolicyShift #CanadaImmigration #WageDepression #mnm #malayalisnearmeapp #canadaupdate #canadanews
